HOLIDAY VS HOLY DAY
Every break from the usual can be
classified as holiday or holy day. Holiday is a period of time
wherein people would normally chooses to relax and enjoy at home or engage in a
seasonal celebrations mainly for the fun of it. Today's holiday celebration is
usually seen akin to feast day in foods, wine, laughter, dancing and other
excessive activities attach to the world. On the other hand, holy day is a day
to fulfill the third commandment "the Sabbath Day" from which the
Lord declared it holy after the six days of creation, Exodus 20: 8-11. Holy day
is a day of obligation set for all of us Christians to faithfully attend
masses, enjoin religious activities for spiritual growth and get to relax in a
peaceful place to reflect regarding our ways of living in accordance to the
purpose and plan of God's creation. Such reflection, should partially assess
how ones life went on to attain our final destination, to the Lord our creator
after life on earth.
Holiday and holy day differs lightly from
the beginning being an observance from the religious viewpoint and time off from work activities now differs significantly for the former's
set of activities seem to be more of worldly satisfaction rather than in the
essence of preparation of a life beyond this world can offer. The later are sets of activities for a long term
preparation into the fulfillment of man's ultimate goal in life, to return to
his creator.
