GOSPEL
READING AND REFLECTION
Truly,
I say to you, the servant is not greater than his master, nor is the messenger
greater than he who sent him. Understand this, and blessed are you, if you put
it into practice. I am not speaking of you all, because I know the ones I have
chosen, and the Scripture has to be fulfilled which says: The one who shares my
table will rise up against me. I tell you this now before it happens, so that
when it does happen, you may know that I am He, Truly, I say to you whoever
welcome me, welcomes the One who sent me.”
POINT
OF REFLECTION
When
Jesus said, “the servant is not greater than his master, nor is the messenger
greater than he who sent him.” This message is simply telling us that no one
person is exactly the same. All of us are unique individual and that comparison
is of no value. If you are born master, it does not make sense among masters
because nobody is a standard. The same could be quoted if you are born subordinate.
In general, nobody is a standard. Comparison is of no gain. God is just. Being
such, He loves to see His people doing just.
A
master should relate another master with utmost respect and sincerity. Likewise
he relates himself to his subordinate with respect, justice and humbleness.
What makes us all of equal value to the Lord is our uniqueness. Labeling and discrimination
is purely human and evil in the eyes of God. Whatever human mind perceived who they are, is not really what God made them who they are. If one feels greater or
lesser compared to another, is not what God wants him to feel. Always remember,
our individual design is tailored fit for the purpose God has intended us.
Each
one of us can proclaim Jesus in our own unique way. Each one of us will surely receive
the same reward of salvation in His coming. There is nothing God does not know
about us as He says “ I know the one that I have chosen”. No one can hide away
from God, He knows everything in us. Luke 12:7 “Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not;
you are of more value than many sparrows.” Finally, hold on to the
promise of the Father in heaven brothers and sisters for His word never fails.
Prayer
Father God, we proclaim the greatness of your
kingdom. We acknowledge our being according to the plan of your creation. Thank
you for the grace of understanding bestowed upon us. Thank you for your great
love. It is the hope of our faith. Now, we entrust and lay down our worries
unto you. Let our soul rest in you and resolve our issues in the silence of the
night, so that when morning comes we will wear the morning glory of your smile.
Amen
