GOSPEL READING AND REFLECTION

JOHN 12:44-50

Yes Jesus had said,  and even cried out, “ whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me. And whoever sees me, sees him who sent me. I have come not into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.

If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I am not the one to condemn him; for I have come, not to condemn the world, but to save the world. The one who rejects me , and does not receive my words, already has a judge: the very words I have spoken will condemn him on the last day. For I have not spoken on my own authority; the Father who sent me, has instructed me what to say and how to speak. I know that his commandments is eternal life, and that is why the message I give, I give as the Father instructed me.”

POINT OF REFLECTION

Life is a two-way traffic. The final destination is heaven or hell. But before anything else, comes judgment day. Our Father in heaven will judge us according to the quality of our faith and love unto Jesus. It is faith and love on Him that justifies a believing heart. And similarly, a magic word that activates the cause man’s  salvation.

“Cried out” was the emotional actuation of Jesus upon saying “whoever believes in me, believes not in me, but in him who sent me. And whoever sees me, sees him who sent me”, is sensibly inviting. It is like waking up a person from a dead sleep. It is in fact soul awakening calling people not to miss this big offer of salvation. Like street vendor, Jesus was down pricing salvation for us with a stern warning saying, “The one who rejects me , and does not receive my words, already has a judge: the very words I have spoken will condemn him on the last day.” Jesus is shouting to us this big offer of salvation in a short span of God’s time. It is expected that time will come salvation would never come easy. The book of Revelation told us  how hard it would be for a man on the judgment day. Rev 6:16 says, “And they cried to the mountains and the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.”’ Therefore, Salvation today is easy but it would be hard and scary on the judgment day.

Prayer

Lord, thank you for your continuous blessing of life amidst the crisis that we have experience today. Thank you for your presents of salvation. Thank you for re-awakening our faith. Thank you for the blessings of understanding upon your word. And thank you for your light that shines on us during days of trials and shortcomings. Lord, we surrender to you our sins as we welcome your call of salvation by the purity of our faith and love. Please be careful with our hearts not to be swayed in disguise of this material world  Amen
